You can currently purchase the complete graphic portfolio “Icons” by Keith Haring from 1990 in very good condition. The five-part series of silkscreens with embossed printing was printed in a limited edition of 250 copies. The prints bear the stamped certificate of authenticity on the back, signed by the executor of the estate, Julia Gruen. The graphic series was conceived by Haring himself during his lifetime. However, production could only be completed after his death, which is why all the prints in the entire edition are signed by the artist estate, although this does not detract from the value of this portfolio.

Whatever he presented tended to spread quickly, to multiply, to be applied universally. Like the pictograms and signets in the merchandise circus, like Mickey Mouse or the spinach-eating Popeye, Haring's 'trademarks' have the same effect. He calls them 'icons': the barking dog in the halo, the crawling baby, the yellow angel, the red superman with the dragon wings. Two graphic series are dedicated to these 'icons', one brightly colored and one colorless ('White Icons'). In 1990, shortly before his death, Haring chose the techniques of screen printing and embossing, giving them in one case the rich sheen of enamel signs and in the other the mysterious aura of devotional images before which one lowers one's eyes.

Keith Haring was born in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1958 and died in New York City in 1990.
In 1976, Haring studied commercial art for two semesters at the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh. In 1978, he had his first solo exhibition at the Pittsburgh Arts and Crafts Center. In the same year, he moved to New York and enrolled at the School of Visual Arts. Haring came into increasing contact with graffiti writing, which had a significant influence on his work. He painted covered billboards in the New York subway and gained his first public attention through the resulting photographs by Tseng Kwong Chi.
In October 1982, Haring's first solo exhibition took place at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery. This enabled him to make his international breakthrough: he received invitations to Rotterdam and Amsterdam and took part in Documenta 7 in Kassel. In 1983, he took part in the Whitney Biennial and the São Paulo Biennial. Haring met Andy Warhol in the same year and became friends with him. He painted an Andy Mouse for Warhol, which is said to embody a mixture of Andy Warhol and Mickey Mouse. He began painting on canvas in 1985, having previously painted either on paper or vinyl tarpaulins and house walls. The artist's works are represented in numerous renowned collections in Europe, America and Australia, among others. There are also murals in various cities.
