Article of Goller, Michael
Michael Goller was born in 1974 in Karl-Marx-Stadt (now Chemnitz).
Goller has developed a gestural, direct style of painting that is complemented by schematic perspectives. The lyrical compositions are sometimes intense and at the same time balanced in colour. In many paintings, he uses written elements as well as his self-developed font, which resembles runes.
Goller's paintings consist of interlaced layers of gestural and graphic elements. The approach to his pictures is an "optical oscillation in the resonant frequency of the picture". He works on individual pictures for up to a year, "allowing the painting to coagulate in time", which does not contradict the intuitive gestures.
In 2003, Michael Goller co-founded the artist group Querschlag and, together with Peter Piek, the artist initiative Malfront (2003-2007). The artist has regularly exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions in Germany and Europe since 1997. Individual works can be found in public collections.
